Update: Product Reviews

467

In the latest app release, we invite you to share your thoughts via Spoonful Reviews. Leaving a review is simple and helps other shoppers discover new products to try.

Reading Reviews

Reviews for each product will be housed in the new “Reviews” tab, which can be found by tapping or scanning a product. They consist of an average star rating (to the tenths place), rating count, and the actual reviews left by other shoppers. We’ve also created a number of preset tags to help you get a high level sense for how the product tastes and what users think about it.

Lastly, we’ve also added a Reviews section to the Me tab, where you can find all of the reviews you’ve written. You can also see what products your peers have reviewed by taking a peek at the Community tab.

Writing a Review

  1. Scan or tap any product and head over to the Reviews tab.
  2. Tap Write a Review. (Note: You must be signed in.)
  3. Give your review a star rating, tags, title, description. The more thorough the better!

We hope this update helps everyone discover something new today!

  1. I love it the App it helps me when shopping

    1. Spoonful Author says:

      thank you Orville!

  2. I found it to be inaccurate. It flagged a product as containing gluten because it listed flour in the ingredients, despite the fact that it listed gluten free flour in parenthesis. It couldn’t read another product at all. I don’t trust this app and probably won’t be using it.

Hi there – would you mind flagging the product that you see as inaccurate? We do our best to be as accurate as possible across the 700,000 products in our database, but sometimes there are bugs.

  3. I just started using this app, but so far I like it. Although I sent a couple pictures last week and it said they would reply with information in 24 hours but I haven’t received anything yet. it’s nice to have all the help I can get when I’m shopping

Hey Maureen – yes, unfortunately we are a bit behind on products requests within our current budget. We’ll get to it soon as we can!

  4. My go to app for my IBS. Quick and easy to use.
I’ve sent a couple of the items that were not shown through scan and I still haven’t received any updates. That’s the only thing that I would like to see done. Besides that everything else is amazing!

I bought a Fountain Sweet Chilli Sauce based on the Spoonful app listing it as Low, now I find out that it is actually high due to onion and garlic which would be under rehydrated vegetable. It explains the distress I suffered the next day after eating what I thought was a low FODMAP product! To be effective we really need to be able to trust how products are categorised, isn’t that the point of Spoonful?

This app is fantastic. I recently went on a low fodmap / gluten free / low dairy diet. I found this app within the first couple of days, which was a life saver for me. I spend a lot of time in grocery stores scanning upc bar codes. This is the best function that takes out all the guess work, as far knowing what you can have or not have. There’s a new Frye’s close to me that has a lot of low fodmap / gluten free/ non dairy products. I probably get 75% of my groceries there. Frye’s has their shelves marked with purple GF stickers for all their gluten free products, which helps a lot. I have occasionally seen where something labeled gluten-free may not be totally gluten-free, but usually it’s the possibility of cross contamination in processing and manufacturing. So, for me, this app gets five stars.

  7. Love to have this help in the grocery store!

Thank you Judy! It’s been a collective ride between the Spoonful team and our wonderful team of dietitians.
